Selecting a Fan Blade

PILOT AND BOLT CIRCLE HOLE DIAMETERS
SUCKER OR PUSHER?
CLEARANCE INFORMATION

Ideally the fan should be centered in the shroud with half the fan blade inside the shroud and the other half outside.

CAUTION

Fan must have 1” clearance in front of and behind the blades to ensure proper clearance when installed and rotating at high speed.

OPERATING SPEED

Calculate Operating Speed by multiplying maximum engine RPM by drive ratio.

DRIVE RATIO

Calculated Drive Ratio by dividing the accessory drive or crankshaft pulley diameter by the fan drive pulley diameter.

Example:

Accessory Drive                          Fan Drive

Crank Shaft Pulley                      Pulley

MAXIMUM ENGINE RPM = 2100

DRIVE RATIO

8” ¸ 7” = 1.14:1

OPERATING SPEED

2100 X 1.14 = 2,394 rpm’s
